Having a pool in my backyard means that my weekends have been split between running errands for house stuff (it never ends) and hanging in the pool. I don’t always wear much makeup on the weekends, but mascara is always a MUST. Taking my regular stuff off a couple of times a day started taking a toll on my lashes. So, I set out to find a good waterproof mascara that I could put on once and forget.

Finally Found: Perfect Curling Mascara
The struggle to find the perfect mascara is real, y’all.
While the nerd up north loves Younique, this nerd is not a fan of fiber mascaras. Fiber mascaras are great if you don’t mind a multistep process, but I can’t stand the experience of flocking my lashes. I tried it once (not Younique – another mascara brand), and I was so disconcerted once I layered on the fibers that I immediately wanted to take them off.
However, my eyes are my favorite feature, so I went on a months-long hunt for the perfect mascara. After trying several, I found what has to be my favorite one ever.

Lash love: Younique 3D Fiber Mascara Review
When it comes to mascara, I’ll generally try anything once. I’ve done (and LOVED) eyelash extensions (if you’re a Michigan local, nobody does it better than Megan Murphy) but it’s expensive and really isn’t great for your lashes/eyes to do consistently over a long period of time.
The past few years, I’ve been a die-hard fan of Perfekt Lash Perfection gel mascara. I can’t decide if I like it because it’s moisturizing or simply because the applicator wand is bad ass. But recently, photos of my friends trying out the Younique 3D fiber lashes kept popping up in my Facebook newsfeed. So I figured what the hell and gave it a shot.
Enter today’s review: Younique 3D Fiber Lashes. It retails for $29/set and with shipping rings in just under $35…which is a bit pricey but totally gives results worth the cost and wait. It’s good to note that this goes overtop of a regular mascara (I like to use Clinique High Impact Mascara – about $16) and will add another 5 minutes to your makeup regimen.
Glam on the go: Naked on the Run
With an upcoming trip, I was uneasy about traveling with it, so I went to Ulta again on a quest for a smaller palette. However, it only took a hot second to know that the NAKED BASICS eyeshadows wouldn’t do. No sparkle, no deal.
Sooo, I ended up with the Naked on the Run set. It is over the $50 mark ($54 to be precise) and quite large, but it had nearly everything I’d need on the road other than foundation and powder, so I figured it was worth a try.
